BSMMU offers free treatment to 5,675 patients

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) today provided free treatment to 5,675 patients on the occasion of 41st martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day, reports BSS.

About 200 specialized physicians took part in the free treatment service. BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Quamrul Islam inaugurated it at 9.00am and continued till 2.00pm, said a release.

Pro-vice chancellor (administration) Prof Dr Mohammad Sharfuddin Ahmed, pro-VC (education) Prof Dr A S M Jakaria Swapon, treasurer Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Asgor Morol, register Prof Dr ABM Abdul Hannan, proctor Dr Mohammad Habibur Rahman Dulal and of BSMMU hospital director Brigadier General Mohammad Abduallah Al Harun, among others, were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the university authority, led by its vice-chancellor paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in the capital at about 8 am.

The BSMMU also chalked out progarmmes including Quran Khwani, doa-mahfil, food distribution and voluntary blood donation.

Last year, some 6,387 patients were given free treatment marking the day, university sources said.
