BNP standing committee member Hannan Shah no more Correspondent, Dhaka:

BNP standing committee member and former minister ASM Hannan Shah died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Singapore early Tuesday. He was 77.

BNP assistant office secretary Saiful Islam Tipu quoting family source told BSS that Hannan Shah breathed his last at 5:37am Singapore time (3:37am Bangladeshi time) at Raffles Heart Centre in Singapore, reports BSS.

He said the senior BNP leader left behind his wife, two sons and a daughter to mourn his death.

Hannan Shah, a retired Army officer, was the Textile and Jute Minister after BNP assumed power in 2001.

Family sources said Shah was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka with severe chest pain on September 6. Later he was sent to Singapore for better treatment on September 11.

The body will be taken back home tomorrow after the completion of all formalities there, he added.
