Syed Shamsul Haque laid to eternal rest in Kurigram Correspondent, Kurigram:

Versatile writer Syed Shamsul Haque was laid to eternal rest at the green premise of Kurigram Government College in Kurigram on Wednesday afternoon.

Syed Shamsul Haq, most eminent of contemporary Bangla poets, was buried beside a mosque at the college campus.

After a namaz-e-janaza held on the college ground in the Sadar upazila, Haque was buried there around 4.45 pm, reports BSS.

People from all walks of life including Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor took part in the janaza and offered prayer seeking the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Earlier in the day, thousands of people including members of different social and cultural groups paid tributes to Syed Shamsul Haque at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.

Celebrated writer Syed Shamsul Haque died at the United Hospital in the capital last evening at the age of 81.
