Arrest warrant issued against Tarique in sedition case Desk:

A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrant against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman and former chief reporter of Ekushey Television Mahathir Faruki, in a sedition case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Khurshid Alam issued the order taking the charges in the case into cognizance, reports BSS.

Earlier on September 6, investigation officer of the case detective branch (DB) inspector Emdad Hossain submitted formal charge against the four accused, Tarique, Mahathir, former chairman of Ekushey, Abdus Salam and journalist Kanak Sarwar.

According to the case documents, Tarique on January 5, 2015, addressed a rally in London, inciting violence against country's (Bangladesh) judiciary, administration and law enforcing agencies. By live broadcasting the speech of a fugitive, the other three have also committed seditious act.

Sub-inspector Borhan Uddin of Tejgaon Police Station on August 1, 2015, filed the case.
