3,621 pilgrims yet to return to country after hajj

Amid the back-to-back punishment to hajj agencies every year for showing negligence, this time also a massive numbers of pilgrims has yet to rerun to country after performing hajj in Saudi Arabia.

According to the source of Ministry of Religion Affairs, a total of 1,01,758 pilgrims went to Saudi Arabia in this year hajj season. Among them, 98,137 pilgrims have already returned to the country after performing hajj there.

Taking into account this figure, some 3,621 hajji – a 3.78 percent of total pilgrims - did not return to country.

If the non-returnee of hajji exceeds more than 2 percent of total pilgrims the ministry considers it as the act of human trafficking.

This year Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Airlines operated back-and-froth flights to fly pilgrims from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia. Biman made its last hajj flight on October 17 and Saudi Airlines on October 20.
