More than 1600 children participate on Mental Arithmetic

Thereport24.com Desk : ALOHA Bangladesh organized its 10th National Level Abacus & Mental Arithmetic competition 2017 in Bangladesh today at Bashundhara International Convention City (BICC) in the capital. The day long competition, one of its kind in Bangladesh, was participated by 1633 children from 300 schools across Bangladesh and 44 students from ALOHA Tripura, India. ALOHA Bangladesh has been organizing such competition in Bangladesh since 2008.

The objective of this competition was to test the speed and accuracy of the children. Within 5 minutes duration of time, the participants have been asked to solve 70 complex sums and majority of the students solved 70 complex problems with 100 % accuracy within the due time.

The award ceremony took place in the afternoon where selected students showed demo of their skills. President of ALOHA Mental Arithmetic and Secretary of the Malaysia Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Association (MAMAA), Mr. Loh Mun Sung handed over award to the winners.

Md. Ali Haider Chowdhury, Managing Director of ALOHA Bangladesh was present at the ceremony, while Mr. Saiful Karim, Chairman of ALOHA Bangladesh lead the program as session chairman. Mr. Mohhamed Shamsuddin, Director of ALOHA Bangladesh was also present as special guest.

“ALOHA Bangladesh is the first company to bring internationally recognized Aloha Mental Arithmetic to Bangladesh from Malaysia for the total brain development of children aged between 4 and 14 years. It helps children build better concentration, self-confidence, sharper observation, keener listening skill, and enhanced memory retention power, and improved analytical skill, better creative and imaginative skill. The program help children learn arithmetic in a fun way and improves their thinking capacity to do better in creative writing, social science, English, Bangla and other subjects, “ said Md. Ali Haider Chowdhury Managing Director of ALOHA Bangladesh.

ALOHA, which stands for Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic, is a total brain development program. It is an extra-curricular program for school going children which run for two years divided into 8 levels and each level consists of three months. In this program, children are trained to do addition and subtraction operation from 1 to 99 by using their ten fingers. Once, they learn the finger technique, they are taught Abacus for bigger numbers. With the use of Abacus, children are trained to solve complicated calculations e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, root, square-root, decimal, percentage etc. with speed and accuracy.

Later, children are trained to do complicated calculations without using fingers or abacus where they start to fully utilize their mental power to do calculation. They learn how to visualize the imaginary abacus and solve complex arithmetical problems.

Total of 199 winners were announced. Students who attained full marks are as follows- Md. Rahim Hasan, Uttara-1 Centre; Afian Shafi Driro, Dhanmondi-1 Centre; Saraf Islam Nuhil, Dhanmondi-1 Centre.
