HSC exams begin Sunday Correspondent, Dhaka:

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations of 2017 are going to begin across the country on Sunday.

A total of 11,83,686 examinees from 8,864 educational institutions will take part in the examinations. Of the total candidates, 6,35,697 are male and 5,47,989 female.

This year, the number of total examinees has decreased by 34,942 from 12,18,628 last year.

Some 271 students will sit for the examinations from seven overseas centres, too. Of the examinees, 129 are male and 142 female.

Besides, a total of 9,82,783 students will take the examinations from eight general education boards while 99,320 from madrasah board, 96,914 from vocational and 4,669 from DIBS.

The written examinations will end on May 15 and the practical examinations are scheduled to begin on May and end by May 25.

Additional 20 minutes time will be given to students with disabilities to encourage them for continuing their studies. Extra 30 minutes will be given to the students with special needs, including autism.
