Desk, Dhaka:

Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews gave credit to the bowlers for their impressive Test match victory against Bangladesh.

He was talking to the pressmen at a post-match press conference held on Thursday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital city.

"I thought we played some pretty good cricket to get there. The bowlers got us there in the first innings, when Bangladesh were all out for 232. Once we got 700 there was no way back for Bangladesh, so it was a pretty good performance by the batters and the bowlers in the first innings," said the Lankan skipper.

He said bowlers have improved quite a lot in the last few games. They've been bowling brilliantly. The fast bowlers were in really good rhythm-so were the spinners.

He also praised spinner Dilruwan the way he bowled in the second innings because he must deserves the exposure.

Asked to comment about the wicket the allrounder said "There's nothing wrong with the wicket. The wicket was pretty good at the end of the third day as well as the past two sessions as well. There were no demons in the wicket. But I thought we handled those pressure situations well, whereas they didn't."

He said: "In the past we had Murali running through sides and in the recent past we had Rangana Herath running through sides. I haven't been in a team where we had all four bowlers equally good. I'm very happy with the fast bowlers at the moment. They are delivering with the new ball and with the oldest ball. Dilruwan also, I'm very pleased with the way he performed today. We needed that extra spinner who supports Rangana, and he did the job today."

Replying to a question he said the boys made him comfortable because if they perform, it always makes the captain better. It's about the team. "We work as a team. We help each other and enjoy each other's success, so that's been the secret for all of us," he added.
