Awami League 20th council underway in Suharawardi Udyan

The two-day 20th council of the country's oldest and largest political party Bangladesh Awami League has got underway at Suharawardi Udyan here this morning.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the Awami League, formally inaugurated the council raising the national flag amidst playing of the national anthem, reports BSS.
Party Chief Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam released pigeons and balloons on the auspicious occasion.
Presidents and general secretaries of 74 district units of the party raised the party flag at that time.
The prime minister entered the blissfully decorated venue of the council at 10.05am amidst ecstatic slogans of the thousands of delegates and councilors congregated from across the country.
The formal inauguration was followed by an attractive cultural show presented by the country's leading artistes.
The 20th council of Bangladesh Awami League is being held with the theme-"Bangladesh is marching down the highway of development-now is the time to hold our head high."
After the inauguration, scriptures from holy books of different religions were recited.
