Journalist Sekhar Das Gupta passes away
Thereport24.com Desk : Valiant Freedom Fighter and journalist Sekhar Das Gupta died of cardiac arrest at his residence here this afternoon. He was 61.
Sekhar is survived by his wife and a son.
The body of Sekhar, a permanent member of Jatiya Press Club (JPC), was kept on the club premises this afternoon to allow his colleagues and fellow journalists to have a last glimpse and pay tributes to him, reports BSS.
Information Minister and Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu expressed profound shock at the death of his party leader Sekhar.
In a condolence message, he prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
JPC managing committee president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secreatry Quamrul Islam Chowdhury also mourned the death of the eminent journalist.
"In his (Sekhar) death the nation has lost a valiant freedom fighter and an eminent journalist," they said in a condolence message.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Secretary General Omar Faruque also expressed deep shock at the death of Sekhar.
